Review: Rivers

Rivers Rivers by S.L. Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh, I do love a second chance romance. And it's a rockstar second chance romance which makes it even better. Because who doesn't have a rockstar fantasy (I'm looking at you Adam Levine)?

SL Scott knows how to bring the feels. I adore her writing and will always read her books. Rivers proves she has a way with words and knows what she's doing.

Sparks are reignited, chemistry is off the charts explosive, and the pain and heartache are so real, so raw that you'll want to hold Rivers and Stella until they are put together again.

Told only like SL Scott can tell a story, you'll be cheering for this couple from the very beginning.

Review: Love Machine

Love Machine Love Machine by Kendall Ryan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Friends-to-Lovers is where it's at lately. I'm a sucker for a good romance where the two lovers are besties first. I absolutely adore it.

Adore.
It.

I mean, what's not to love? And Love Machine? Sweet, kind, innocent Keatyn just wants to learn how to seduce a man. She knows she lacks game and she wants to make herself better in the bedroom.

What better person to help her than her bestie, Slate?

No one. No one is better than her bestie. Because Slate is fantastic. He's sweet, attentive, and just the right amount of dirty in the bedroom.

*I listened to the audio of Love Machine. I have found that I am never disappointed with Sebastian York or Andi Arndt. They are pure audio gold and I am always happy to listen to a book narrated by them.

Review: Complicated Parts-Book 2 by Ashley Jade

5 STARS 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Ashley Jade is back and she's pushing boundaries we didn't know we had. I have a new favorite slow burn couple. Is couple the right word? Let's say I have a new favorite slow burn series! Complicated Parts is going to have you questioning your views on sexuality and love and lust and hate and want and need. Basically, you'll question everything.

We met Preston and Kit in the Complicated Hearts duet. There are a few things we know for certain about these two.

Preston:
He's a gambler.
He's a player.
He's Asher Holden's little brother.

Kit:
She's a lesbian.
She's heartbroken.
She's Breslin's best friend.

They were never meant to be more than two ships passing in the night--or day--but a dying grandmother, assholes, and one psychotic girlfriend continue to bring these two together.

Picking up where Complicated Parts-Book 1 ends, you are thrown right back into the fray and the crazy that we've come to know and love.

Ashley Jade knows how to build a world that I never want to leave.
She knows how to make me fall for the asshole of the story.
She also knows how to leave me with more questions than answers.

"Some people are more like Origami...we fold, bend, and change shape. We find a way to adapt when life throws us curveballs.
But at the end of the day...we're still paper. Still fragile."

Preston and Kit are explosive. They are nothing like you expect. When you pick up romance, you think hearts and flowers. Ashley Jade isn't a hearts and flowers kind of author. Which makes her amazing. Preston and Kit's story will drag you in and hold you there.

Ashley Jade brings two people together, puts them in unthinkable circumstances and then leaves them to deal with the aftermath. But tragedy--or any stressful, life altering event--can pull two people together like nothing else and Preston and Kit have had their fair share of bad shit happening to them. And that connection, that bond, that basic need for survival has them finding each other in the darkest and most desperate of times. It's how they handle those times when the pull is too much that keeps you reading.

The tension.
The passion.
 The unknown.

The very simple fact that Kit is a lesbian is what makes this so complicated and difficult and completely different from anything I've ever read. Kit is a lesbian. It is such a part of her identity that she can't even imagine being with a man. She's not attracted to men, she never has been. Preston is no exception to this rule. The rule is there for a reason.

I see parts of him no one else wants to. The parts he doesn't want anyone to see.

Or is it. What happens when you start questioning your very soul? The very thing you know for sure about yourself? What do you do when friendships are rocky, relationships aren't what you thought, and you can't even rely on the one thing you know to be true?

Knowing this isn't your typical romance, I still want you to read it. I want you to go in with an open mind and an open heart. I want you to go in AFTER reading book one. I do NOT want you skipping around. If you do, you'll be beyond lost. Preston and Kit deserve your time. They deserve the love and the care that they desperately need to navigate these uncharted waters.

"I don't want you to be anyone but you."

Teaser credit goes to Tease Me Designs.
Complicated Parts-book 2 is by Ashley Jade and releases August 1, 2018.
Many thanks to Ashley Jade for taking me on this journey and allowing me early access to this book. I am impatiently waiting for the conclusion to this series.

Review: The Sexpert

The Sexpert The Sexpert by J.A. Huss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's a rom-com. Like, a legit rom-com. It's so far out of the JA Huss norm that I have no idea what to say.

Except I thought it was hilarious. This is light and fun and sweet. This isn't the dark and twisty ride that Huss-McClain took us on with the Orginal Sin series. Sexpert is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

And I think you'll like it. It's sweet, shy girl meets sexy billionaire. It's cautious flirting and stolen kisses. It's fun. And laughter. And being scared of opening yourself up to something and someone new.

You're gonna meet new characters who will captivate you. Myrtle. Pierce. Zoey. Not to mention Andrew and Eden.

Review: Surrender

Surrender Surrender by Amy Daws
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm not sure if Amy Daws can top herself after this one.

I've been waiting for Gareth for a long, long time. And as much as I know I have one more book to really get the full Gareth affect, I cannot help but feel blown away by this book.

Gareth is the mysterious older brother to Tanner, Cam, Booker, and Vi. You just don't know anything about him and it's finally time to break the Gareth mystery.

Sloane is the perfect heroine. The dynamic. The push and the pull. The attraction. Wow. Just. Wow.

Review: Forbidden Miles

Forbidden Miles Forbidden Miles by Claire Kingsley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have a crazy love for brother's best friend. Or is it best friend's little sister?

Either way, if you love the trope, you'll love Forbidden Miles.

We met Chase and Brynn in Broken Miles. Brynn is the baby sister of Roland, Leo, and Cooper.
Chase is Cooper's best friend.

You see where this is going, right?!

But you don't! Because this is so sweet and fun and real! It's just the perfect Claire Kingsley. It's everything you want when you want a light, sweet, sexy romance.

Review: Stealing Harper

Stealing Harper Stealing Harper by Molly McAdams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I did the facebook thing again.

So, I'm gonna copy and paste those posts. There aren't as many as there were for Taking Chances, but I still documented this journey. You can thank me (or hate me) later.

I also want to say that this took me much longer to read. Vacation was over and real life was back in full so I didn't get to read as much as I wanted.

July 8, 2018.
Am I really going to do this to myself?
I hope someone is prepared to hold me.

July 10, 2018.
I'm busy doing that read of Stealing Harper. I'm taking it nice and slow and I'm trying to NOT hate Molly McAdams before getting to the end.

I'm trying. Really, I am.

In fact, I'm reading it so slowly--and I'm trying so hard--that I left the book at work in the break area.

And I'm off tomorrow.

July 12, 2018. Page 57.
Just gonna read a bit of this while on break...

July 14, 2018. 4:40 pm.
Page 178: Harper is annoying.

July 14, 2018. 6:40 pm.
Page 197: Pretty sure this is the first time I can say I really liked Brandon.
"You were like a brother to me. But I'm sure you can understand why I'm saying we're done."

July 14, 2018. 6:42 pm.
Chapter 14: Is this the last chapter? I'm afraid to check because I don't want to ruin the ending.

July 14, 2018. 7:42 pm.
Molly McAdams.

I....
Uh....
Molly, I....
But...but....

WHAT DID YOU JUST DO TO ME?

Can we sit down and have a drink in Denver? I feel like I need a drink. I feel like you OWE me a drink.
Did I seriously just put myself through that? What was I thinking? why did I think it would hurt LESS?!! Why did I think his POV wouldn't totally break me?

Damn.

I need a drink. And a hug. Probably in that order.

Review: Mister Tonight

Mister Tonight Mister Tonight by Kendall Ryan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a feel-good romance.

As in, there's almost no drama or any crazy misunderstanding. There's attraction, craziness, a little bit of 'what are the odds?', and then a whole lot of sweet.

Mister Tonight is that romance you want to read if you aren't looking for anything over the top.

Get it now!

And as usual, SebYo and Andi Arndt nailed the narration.

Review: I Think I Love You

I Think I Love You I Think I Love You by Lauren Layne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I Think I Love You is one of those sweet and sexy romance books. It's a friends-to-lovers. It's adorable. It's fun. I want a Hunter for myself. And I want friends like those who work at Stiletto and Oxford.

This is the last book in the series, but the first one I've read. Backwards, I know. And not something I usually do, but it's really a series of standalones and this can be read without the others. I was content knowing the secondary characters were all in other books, but not upset that I didn't know their stories (I will one day because they were just too much fun to not read).

Hunter and Brit are best friends. The ultimate best friends. They talk to each other about everything and would do anything for the other.
Which is exactly what Brit is counting on when she asks her best friend to help guide her in the ways of dating.
What neither of them could have foreseen were the feelings and sparks that would fly when they pretended to break that friendship barrier.

I couldn't put this down. Seriously. I wanted to read through the night, but sleep called my name. They were just so much fun and it was so entertaining to watch them fall for each other. You should definitely give this book a read. You'll feel good when you're finished.
"Trust me on this. The key to being irresistible? Quit trying so dam hard to be everyone's best friend. Just be you."
"Says my actual best friend."

Review: Control

Control Control by Piper Frost
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Can I touch you? Stars

When I found out this series was going to continue with Tommy and Grant I was over the moon. I mean, who doesn't like their men all inked up? And I'll admit I'm coming around to the sexy cowboy thing. It doesn't hurt these guys are tattoo artists in their spare time.

So, over the moon.
Because, let's face it, Piper Frost teased us with lines like, "I told her I'd stick it in her ass if she let Barns stick it in her pussy." and when you give me a line like that, I'm gonna want to read it. There's almost nothing better than a good ol' MFM scene.

And then I started reading about Tommy and his love for Affton.
And I read about Affton and her desire to make something of herself. She couldn't do that in their small town, so she had to leave.

This love story isn't like the others. This story had me in tears. Affton's story, her struggles, her life away from Tommy was heartbreaking.
"If you haven't found what you need out there in the big old world you come back. Enjoy that big city life, then come back to our gravel roads...And come back to me."

To say these hookers blew this book out of the park is a great disservice to Piper Frost. They did so much more than hit it out of the park. This will probably go down as my most favorite Piper Frost book. And that's saying so much because these ladies put so much into their work and I know they're going to continue to give me great things.

But this book?! Gah. These two were on motherfucking point here. Laughter and tears. A hot #OneHandedRead. They had it all.

"You love me?"
"It's hard not to."

Review: The Sweet Spot

The Sweet Spot The Sweet Spot by Naomi Springthorp
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

If you like baseball, this has just enough to keep you into it.
If you like insta-love, this has that.

I am an avid baseball fan. AVID. I love the sport. Reading this book and getting real baseball terms was awesome.
Rick is a catcher. He's sexy, single, and serious.
Sherry has a travel business and a thing for karaoke. She's single, sexy, and a huge baseball fan. More importantly, she's a fan of Rick's team. A big fan. And a big fan of Rick.

So, when the opportunity to meet him after a game is presented to her, she'd be an idiot to turn it down.
And she's not an idiot.

Sparks fly, sexy times happen, and it is on from there.

Review: You've Got Fail

You've Got Fail You've Got Fail by Celia Aaron
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 You don't need me for you to shine Stars

Why didn't you guys tell me this book would make me feel so happy? This book is the perfect blend of hilarious, dirty, sweet, and sexy.
The.
Perfect.
Blend.
And yet, none of you said, "Hey, dummy, read this book. You'll like it."
Shame on you guys.

Anyway, Willis and Scarlet meet in the most unexpected of ways.
She's a con. He's a blogger with a secret identity. And now, the con has stolen that public persona and created herself in the image of one Scarlet Rocket.

And the shenanigans go on from there.

The greatest of shenanigans.

Get this book and fall for nerdy Willis and sexy Scarlet just like I did. And don't say I didn't tell you to read it because I did. Just now.

Review: Taking Chances

Taking Chances Taking Chances by Molly McAdams
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I don't know how to rate or review this book right now. I'm angry. Like, HULK angry. And I don't have the luxury to smash things.
So, a good rating because clearly I feel things. Lots of things. Annoying things. I'm angry and annoyed and yeah.
So, I don't typically document my reading progress on Facebook, but I did for this book. I had a "friend" ask me to. So, I'm going to copy and paste that documentation here. That'll be my review. Because, honestly, I don't have anything else to say.

Post 1. 6/30/2018. 11:28am:
This is happening.
Am I going to hate you?

Post 2. 7/1/2018. 11:58am:
Annoyed. I'm annoyed. Harper is getting on my nerves--and has since the beginning. Brandon is too nice. Seriously, just too nice and kind and sweet. And Chase. Yep. He's that bad boy you hate to love. And I do love him.
But this newest development, right before page 270, I'm annoyed.

Post 3. 7/1/2018. 12:01pm:
HOLD THE MOTHERFUCKING PHONE. WHAT IN THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?! WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED?

Post 4. 7/1/2018 12:02pm (this is a continuation of the previous post, only with more words):
Because WHAT IN THE AF JUST HAPPENED???

Page 273: "I love you. I'll fix this." <--paraphrased, of course.
Page 274: WHAT IN THE AF DID YOU DO?! WHO DOES THIS TO A PERSON? WHO??!!! AND WHY? THIS ISN'T EVEN OKAY. NOPE. NOT OKAY.

I *knew* something would happen. People told me I wouldn't see it coming. Well, no fucking shit, guys. I did NOT see it coming. Because who would?! Why? Why did that just happen? And why are there still 200 pages before the end? Do I really want to finish this? Because I'm PISSED.

FUCKING LIVID. LIVID.

I hate you all.

Post 5. 7/1/2018. 3:45pm:
Page 333: this is a sick joke, right?

Post 6. 7/1/2018. 7:50pm:
For those following my journey, I finished Taking Chances.

I'm angry. Like, irrationally angry. Will that feeling go away? Because I shouldn't be this pissed off over a book, but WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!

Although, with that twist I knew was coming yet didn't see coming--assholes--I realize the beginning of the book makes so much more sense. All the sense in the world. Because why would we need all of that? We wouldn't. We'd want the real story. The one with the guy and the girl falling in love and living HEA.

But instead, we get the story of a guy and a girl falling in love and living HEA.

I realize that doesn't makes sense. But if I say the things, then it's ruined and no one needs to have this book spoiled for them.

Now, I'm not saying you should read it because I'm still ridiculously ANGRY, but if you feel like you need a good FUCK YOU, READER kind of book, then buy this damn thing. https://amzn.to/2NgXzXM

Now, someone tell me if you can lend me Stealing Harper because clearly I'm a glutton for punishment.

```````````````
So, yeah. That was my Taking Chances experience. And I'm still unsure about the star rating. I can't settle on a number.
Probably because I'm SO PISSED OFF.
