Review: Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not Forget Me Not by Brooke Blaine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I can't say I was surprised by the ending--and you won't be either--but I enjoyed this entire book.

Ollie has crushed on Reid for months. And when fate intervenes, Ollie has everything he ever wanted within his grasp.

Take a walk around with Ollie and Reid. Watch what happens when two people fall in love.

With an excellent cast of supporting characters--Mike is my favorite and has the best lines--you'll soon wish you lived in this charming southern town.

Excellent start to a romance you won't soon forget.

Review: Sin With Me

Sin With Me Sin With Me by J.A. Huss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! Just. Holy fucking wow.

Yep. This is intense. Like, super fucking intense. I don't have adequate words to describe how I am feeling after finishing this wild ride. And oh, my god. This is one wild ride. One crazy, intense, wild, fucking ride.

I don't know what rock Johnathan McClain has been hiding under (just kidding, he hasn't been under a rock, he's been out in the open writing and doing other things, but that isn't the point here), but holy fucking shit where has he been all this time? He's the voice this romance world needs.

And Julie, oh, we all know and love Julie at this point. But she did something extra special here. She did something so extraordinarily Huss, yet not. And there's really no way to explain that unless you've read her other work, not to mention this book. It's just phenomenal.

Bring these two together? BOOM. Big fucking explosion. Of the figurative sense, for sure. And maybe of the literal sense. I have no idea. I'm sure something could have exploded during the writing and/or reading of this book. I know that my mind basically exploded, but that's figurative again so....

Tyler Morgan. Well, shit. I think I have a new man to love. See, he's so not book boyfriend material. He's the antihero, despite the weird circumstances in which he keeps showing up. But he's not the antihero we've come to know and love from Huss. He's a new antihero. Because I'm pretty sure there are times when you'll think he's batshit crazy and you'll want to run in the other direction. But then there are those times where he's got you droppin' panties because he's so unbelievably dirty.
"Tell me how to fuck you. Because if you don't, you're just gonna have to get it the way I like to give it."

I mean, come the fuck on. You know you dropped the panties when he said that. And that alley scene?! Just Jesus Christ. Yes. Please. However you want to give it.

Anyway, do you want to know about the book? I assume if you've made it this far it's because you've enjoyed my rambling and could give a shit about what the book actually contains, but in case you do care, here ya go:

Tyler Morgan. Hot AF crazy man with more money than he could ever spend.
Maddie. Off her rocker stripper.
Both hate Halloween.

Seems like a good enough combo to keep the story going.

And it does. It goes and goes and goes...

And then it ends.

And book two will be out in a few weeks, so until then, we just have to wait and see what happens with Tyler and Maddie.

Review: My Soul to Lose

My Soul to Lose My Soul to Lose by Rachel Vincent
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the prequel/ novella that kicks off the Soul Screamers series. I have had this series on my tbr for far too long and now I look forward to reading the rest of the books!

I enjoyed this little dip into the Soul Screamers pool, so to speak. It was a nice way to introduce you to the main character and let you see into her ability.

If you like YA paranormal, this is up your alley!

The narrator did a great job, too. I look forward to hearing more of her work.

Review: Come Back To Me

Come Back To Me Come Back To Me by Kathy Coopmans
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Okay, so I hate doing bad reviews. I try to find the positive in a book because I know bad reviews hurt.

So, let me focus on the positives:

-the narrators did a great job. I love Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel, which is why I grabbed this audio in the first place.
-.............

Yeah, I'm out of positives. I wanted to like this, I really did. I just didn't. The characters annoyed me. I got tired of hearing the same thing out of their mouths. Oh, he left me, I can't forgive him. I left her to protect her, I will get her back. I just want to fuck her. I just want to see her naked. I can't be with him because he lied. My sister is the most important person ever no matter how often she screws me over. Blah, blah, blah.

I cant' do it when the book constantly repeats the same mantras. Yeah, they may have used different wording, but it was a book full of the same things.

You may like this story. Don't let my review keep you from reading it. Honestly, maybe it just wasn't my day for romance. I did just come off a fantasy high. Maybe this wasn't the right book to follow up that epic-ness. I will never know. I do know I won't be picking up any more Kathy Coopmans books though.
But if this is your jam, if a husband faking his death to protect his wife is what you want to read about, then this book is for you.
If reading about a woman who is devoted to her druggie, lying sister is for you, then this book is one you should read.
If coming face to face with your dead husband and then denying you still love him--despite just going on about how much you love him--is your thing, then Come Back to Me is the second chance for you.

Review: Addict

Addict Addict by H.Q. Frost
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hold on to your cowboy hats and get ready to meet the men of Kenshaw Ranch.

Brandt Kenshaw is going to be your new book boyfriend. And if you have your book boyfriends sorted into groups, add Brandt to your favorite Cowboy BBF list. I put him on mine. Hell, I already have Bo and Chase there and I haven't gotten their stories yet!

Jo isn't your typical girl. She's from NY. She's a city girl. She doesn't want to move in with her mother and step-father at all. And when she hears there's a step-brother in the picture? Well, let's just say she's less than thrilled. If she could be more aloof, I'd be hard pressed to learn how. She's the perfect girl for Brandt. And that probably sounds stupid, but she's perfect because he brings out the best in her. It may not seem like it, but he does. He pushes her out of her comfort zone, he pushes her to live her life.
And living isn't what Jo is accustomed to doing.
She's content with not leaving the confines of her room.

Brandt will have you dropping your panties and panting for more. He'll have you bent over a hay bale in no time. He'll have you keeping secrets and he'll have you stealing kisses behind closed doors.

And most importantly, he'll be there to protect you as you fall for him. Because you will fall for Brandt Kenshaw. I know I did.

Give me Bo, Piper Frost. I'm not satisfied with only one cowboy!

Review: Driving Whiskey Wild

Driving Whiskey Wild Driving Whiskey Wild by Melissa Foster
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"You don't have to be a biker girl. Just be my girl."

Bullet Whiskey is the hero of the Whiskey family, but don't tell him that.

Finlay is the sweet caterer who has decided moving back to her small hometown was the only way to be around family.

Bullet never expected sweet Finlay to give in to his requests for a date, but she did. You would, too. He's all alpha hotness wrapped up in a sexy, tattooed package. And don't forget the beard, the broodiness, and the kindness. Plus, he's a biker. So, yeah. He's a complete package if there ever was one.

Finlay resisted Bullet Whiskey for far longer than any other woman. She knew that, but she also knew he wasn't her type of man. Everything that Bullet exuded was the complete opposite of what she thought she was looking for.

Until it shifted. Until Bullet convinced Finlay he was more than his outer appearance.

And holy, mother of awesome. This story is perfect. Bullet and Finlay are the exact opposites, which complement each other better than ever. Where Bullet closes people off, Finlay opens up. Where Bullet doesn't enjoy the company of others, Finlay is a social butterfly.

This is the third book in The Whiskeys series, but I have not read the previous two books. I never felt lost or confused or like I was missing something. However, I will be going back and starting with the first Whiskey book. These Whiskeys are just too fun to not read. And I'm definitely looking forward to Bones' book!

Review: Man Hands

Man Hands Man Hands by Sarina Bowen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I waited to write this review because I wanted to write something profound. Or at least something that conveys just how funny this book is.
You know, either one.

So, I laughed. I laughed a ton. I laughed out loud. I laughed and laughed and laughed.

You will laugh too.

I guess my only "complaint" is that the characters were older, but they never acted like it. Actually, let's just change this. I don't want to say complaint because why should I complain about a couple who is still young at heart. My forty year old husband still acts like a teenage guy at times. Super grabby, stupid comments, sexual innuendos over things that shouldn't be considered sexual.

Yeah, so no complaints. This book is cute and full of humor. I can't wait to read book two. Mostly because that couple has a hate-filled lust thing going on.

Review: The Bands of Mourning

The Bands of Mourning The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved every single minute of this ride!

Wax and Wayne are back at it! And they've brought along Marasai, Sterris, and MeeLan.
Can I just say that if I had to live before electricity--and in a world where allomancy exists--I'd like to be friends with Wax and Wayne. A girl can hope, right?!

Every push, every pull, every speed bubble, every single word on every single page (or in this case every word spoken in my ear because...audio) held more depth, more meaning, more secrets than the one before it. You can never be too prepared when you surround yourself with Wax and Wayne, as Sterris proves time and time again.

And let's just talk about how incredibly fantastic Sterris is in this book! Can we?! Oh, that girl and her lists and her careful planning and her entire demeanor. She grows so much from Alloy of Law to Bands of Mourning. Alloy of Law Sterris would have never gone on this little expedition with Wax. Never.

But as Sterris has quickly learned, the safest place is closest to Wax. And that's where you'll find her.

Wayne is perfect. Again. As usual.
Marasai is still ambitious, determined, and she seems more sure of herself and her ability than ever before.
MeeLan is as interesting as the next Kandra. Or maybe she's just as interesting as TenSoon, but I love her. And I love how seamlessly she fits in with Wax, Wayne, and Marasai.

Bands of Mourning brings us new characters, new magic, new technology, and new possibilities. It's one hell of a ride and I am impatiently waiting for the next (and last) installment of Wax and Wayne.

**I listened to Michael Kramer narrate this and he did a stunning job. I knew when we were following Wax, Wayne, and Marasai. There was never any confusion and hearing his many accents for the different characters is always a treat.

Review: Wildcat

Wildcat Wildcat by Max Monroe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Okay, okay. I did it. I finally read a Max Monroe book. What took me so long? Hell, I honestly have no fucking clue. Is it a lack of time? Am I afraid the books won't live up to the hype? Whatever my excuses were in the past, I have to let them go. And I need to go find me a bad boy billionaire because after meeting Quinn Bailey, I'm sure I'll love all of the Max Monroe books. ALL. OF. THEM.

Quinn Bailey is the greatest quarterback ever. He's gorgeous, charming, and absolutely every single thing you could want in a man.

Catharine Wild is a flight attendant who knows absolutely nothing about football. So, when Quinn Bailey lands himself in her first class cabin, she has no clue who he is. When she stumbles upon him again, she's still just as clueless.

But Quinn can't hide from reality and the reality is: people know him. Or at least know of him. And that's when Cat learns he's more than just a charmer.

This is one of those feel good books. It feels good to read it. It feels good to go on this journey with Quinn and Cat. And this feel good book tackles (see what I did there?!) some seriously tough issues. Tough issues such as sexuality and race.
So, yes, this is a feel good book, but you'll be asked to deal with the closed-mindedness of others.

If Max Monroe did anything with this book, it was make me feel like I could find my very own QB. And now I have to see where this series takes me. Sean is up next and I'm more excited than I should be.

Review: Match This!

Match This! Match This! by M.J. Fields
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ever listen to a book and think " damn, this character is just like me?"
Yeah, well, I hadn't either. And I'm really not like Kat on the outside, but on the inside Kat is my spirit animal. She's ruthless, mean, and so fucking snarky that I wish we were friends. Best Friends.

I haven't listened to a book this funny in ages. Okay, probably about six months, but that's a long time in the audio world. Do you have any idea how many books I've listened to in six months?! Exactly.
So, MJ Fields gives us this sexy, light, and fucking hilarious little story about a tattoo artist named Kat, her mother, and her two best friends. Oh, and the sexy men she works with at the shop. This book is about friendships and relationships.

And for a book about hooking-up, there is very little sex. I'm talking, one sexual encounter. ONE.
Until the end, when there's a sexy as fuck sexual encounter that goes.....nowhere. Nowhere because the book ends and now I am dying for book two. Which I've already queued up on my Kindle.

Get ready for one wild ride. This book is hilarious. And just know that Kat is going to say all the things you wished you could say. And she's not going to give a fuck about how that makes you feel.

**I listened to this audio and Ramona Master was awesome. Her tone and inflection and overall attitude as Kat is on point. It's easy to distinguish the different characters as she changes her tone/pitch with each person. I really, really hope she narrates book two.

Review: Missing From Me

Missing From Me Missing From Me by Jayne Frost
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sean. Oh, Sean.

My heart still hurts. I've waited a few days to write this review and it hasn't helped. I laughed, I cried, I loved.

Sean and Anna were high school sweethearts. They were each other's forever. They had plans and a life together and they were never going to be apart.

Until Sean gets his big break and he chooses fame and music over Anna.

Fast forward four years and be ready for the best, sweetest, saddest second chance romance you'll read. I hurt for Anna and Sean. Their road wasn't easy, it wasn't simple, and there were so many things working against them I wasn't sure if they would pull through or not.

I know this is book three. I know it and it didn't stop me from reading it without reading the previous books. I just had to know Sean's story. I love a second-chance romance. I love musicians.
And I LOVE this series. I've read books three and four and can't sing their praises enough.

This series, this is the rock-star series you SHOULD be reading. Sean and Anna have a story to tell and you want to go on this journey with them.

Just remember to bring the tissues.
