Review: RUIN

RUIN RUIN by Piper Frost
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have such a fucking weak spot for the Kenshaw Ranch series. I don't even know why! Cowboys are totally not my thing. I like them without the accent, yet here we are. Me falling head over heels for another Kenshaw book.

Fenton Sterling.

You guys aren't ready for the level of sweet and sexy he's about to bring to the table. And little Paige Kenshaw won't be able to resist him.

Review: Fresh Catch

Fresh Catch Fresh Catch by Kate Canterbary
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fresh Catch is the story of Owen and Cole. This is my first trip to Talbott's Cove and the world Kate Canterbary has created, but I promise you I'm returning soon. I didn't want this story to end!

God, I love those strong men who find love. I love it even more when they find it with each other. Cole and Owen were not a likely couple, but omg! They are just so fantastic.

Cole with his brilliant mind that has him constantly talking or thinking or working.
Owen with his love for the land in which he lives, the respect for nature, the belief that you don't need more than what's around you.

These two come together in one of the hottest scenes I've read.

What better way to find out the guy you're sharing a house with likes men too?!!

Talbott's Cove is it's own person in this book. The town brings these characters to life in little ways. The town and its people is what shapes Owen and his life. They help Cole reclaim himself. The people are fun and quirky. The town is quaint. The love is deep.

Read this one sooner rather than later.

Review: Imperfect Match

Imperfect Match Imperfect Match by Corinne Michaels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you're looking for a best friends to lovers romance, this is the book you need to read!

Reid and Willow are best friends who live across the hall from each other. They do all the fun things that best friends do. They know each other's dirty secrets and life goals and dreams.

They are so imperfectly perfect for each other.

And they just don't see it.

Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels give us a story of hopes and dreams and best friends. They show us how much fun it can be to fall in love.

This book is light, fun, sweet, romantic, and sexy all in one package. You're just going to love Reid and Willow

Review: Unscripted Hearts

Unscripted Hearts Unscripted Hearts by Peter Styles
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When things go terribly wrong, two men come together to put things back together.

Micah and Ben have had secret crushes on each other for what seems like forever, so when the situations line up perfectly and the moment is right...

Unscripted Hearts tackles some tough issues: life, loss, death, drinking, sexuality, and what it means to really put others first.
And it's done really well.

I enjoyed this story. My only complaint is that it was narrated by one person, when I think two would have been better. However, the narrator did a great job of giving everyone a voice.

Review: Risky Play

Risky Play Risky Play by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I do love RVD. I haven't met a book of hers I haven't liked. Risky Play is another hit.

I fell in like with Slade as the plane's engines failed. I fell for Mack around the time she stumbled into him after their one night stand.

Lust ensued. Feelings, lust, anger, love, pain, hate, joy, sadness. Jealousy. Betrayal.

Yep. RVD puts it all in a book. And she always manages to do it flawlessly. I can't wait for the next book, although I'm a touch disappointed it isn't Jagger's book.

Review: Unbroken

Unbroken Unbroken by Aaron L. Speer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have no idea why I haven't reviewed this yet because I loved everything Mr Speer did with this book.
The love, the drama, the fighting.
The heartache, the forgiveness, the acceptance.

This isn't your typical fighter story. This isn't your typical romance. Aaron Speer tackles some seriously tough issues in this book, but he does it with finesse.

This is Mr. Speer at his finest.

Review: Misadventures of a Good Wife

Misadventures of a Good Wife Misadventures of a Good Wife by Meredith Wild
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Am allowed to rate it if I don't finish it? I can't remember the rules here. Oh well. Here's the review to go with the poor rating.

I'm beginning to think it's me. I just don't seem to click with these Misadventures books the way others are clicking. This story is okay.
Kate and Price experience a tragic event.

The story picks up a year later, after Price's death. That's not a spoiler, it's in the blurb. Kate is still trying to pick up the pieces, but what happens when Price strides back into her life--alive and well?!

Kate isn't sure how to handle it, Price just wants to get back to them.

But can love conquer that kind of betrayal? The kind of lies and games that have been played to keep them both alive?

Yeah, it isn't my bag either, but here we are.

Review: Tumble

Tumble Tumble by Adriana Locke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yes, I just fell hard for this book. Some could say I may have taken a little...tumble. Dane and Neely will have you cheering them on and wanting the best. And Dane? Dane. What can I say about Dane that hasn't already been said? He's fantastic. He's a single dad. He's fantastic. Swoony. Single. Sexy. Dad. That's almost all I needed to hear before my one-click finger got all twitchy.

This is another hit from Ms Locke and I cannot wait to read the next book.

And in case you don't want to read it, may I suggest the AUDIO??! Those southern accents are to die for. And that's coming from an actual southerner.

Review: Until We Are Gone

Until We Are Gone Until We Are Gone by Gia Riley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I grabbed this because I like a story with a good twist. And this one had that in spades. For the majority of the book I'm asking myself what is going on and who is the bad guy. Is there a bad guy? What's wrong with these people?

I will admit to being surprised by the twists in this book. What went down is not what I was expecting--AT ALL. And I love a good surprise.

This is my first Gia Riley, but I'm definitely interested in reading more of her work!

Sarah Puckett did a fantastic job giving voice to each character. It isn't often I listen to a multi-POV story and only have one narrator, but she did a great job with the different tones/voices to make sure I knew who's POV I was in.

Review: Meet Cute

Meet Cute Meet Cute by Helena Hunting
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Do you remember your pre-tween years? I know, I know most of us want to block those out, but just think back on your first big celebrity crush. You know you had one. The posters were taped to your walls, you had t-shirts with their faces on them, you had your first name and their last name scribbled in hearts on your notebook paper/Trapper Keeper/journal.

Yep.

That crush.

Now, I need you to fast forward a few years. And I need you to imagine running into that teenage crush.

Literally.

Dax and Kailyn are something special and sweet and fun and sexy. They aren't the rom-com you're used to getting, but they are still fun and flirty and light-ish. Somehow Helena turns something tragic into a beautiful story about love and loss and love.

And remember that tweenage crush you used to have? Yeah, imagine becoming friends with him. Imagine harboring that crush for much longer than you thought. And imagine coming face to face with him years after he betrayed your trust.

You're gonna find yourself remembering those crushes on Zack Morris and JTT and Justin Timberlake. And you're gonna fall in love with Dax and Kailyn just like I did.
