Review: Blackburn

Blackburn Blackburn by Brynne Asher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm not sure how I've never read a Brynne Asher book before now, but that's something I am definitely upset with myself over.
This book was so good.

It's short, so you gotta pack a lot in, but there was just enough background, enough suspense, enough chemistry to make you believe everything was real. It didn't feel rushed and it was extremely well done.

I'm very happy I gave this book a chance.

Review: The Hazards of Love Vol. 1: Bright World

The Hazards of Love Vol. 1: Bright World The Hazards of Love Vol. 1: Bright World by Stan Stanley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm not sure what I expected, but I've been on a graphic novel kick lately and this one caught my eye.

The story follows Amparo and their deal with a cat.

Sounds sketchy, right?

Well, that's just the beginning.

Follow Amparo on their journey through Bright World and see how far one will go to survive in a land not meant for humans.

Meanwhile, follow Amparo on their journey through the human world.

This story is intriguing, filled with magic, and left me wondering what would happen next.

The images are bright and filled with life and color.

I couldn't put down The Hazards of Love Vol.1. I don't think you'll be able to either.

#Enemies2Lovers: Broken Kingdom by Ashley Jade

I haven't done one of these in awhile, but it is time for a new Meet Your Next blog tour! This tour features your favorite enemies to lovers.

And if you are in the mood to find more books featuring this fun prompt, check out the rest of the blog tour HERE!

The moment I got the prompt, I knew--just knew--I would feature Oakley and Bianca from Ashley Jade's Royal Hearts Academy series. The focus here is mostly on Broken Kingdom, but their story begins in Wicked Princess.

This is every bit of a brothers' best friend/best friends' little sister romance. And as much as it is listed as bully romance, I feel like it's more a story of how your childhood can shape your future.

Bianca Covington, the youngest of the Covington siblings, has been in love with Oakley for what seems like forever, but Oakley can't stand her.

Or is that just what he wants you to believe?

Welcome to their kingdom...

They say you're happy now.

That you can't remember anything from your past and it's for the best.

They told me if I cared about you I'd stay far away and leave you alone for good.

Because you're getting married to a man you love.

Only problem is...

you loved me first.

If you've read any of the Royal Hearts Academy series, you know Bianca Covington as the most ruthless of them all. She's mean, she's manipulative, and she will destroy anyone who comes between her and those she loves.

But what if there's more to her story? Not to justify her vicious ways, but what if something tragic happened and she never fully recovered?

What if something tragic happens again and when she recovers she's a different person?

Because that's what happens in Wicked Princess. You meet a whole new Bianca Covington. And her story is not what you think.

She is not what you think.

Broken Kingdom is told in past and present, by both Bianca and Oakley. Here, in the past, you see a time that changed them both. You see what happens when the girl is so in love with a boy, she will do almost anything to get his attention--and to make sure others don't have it.

You'll also see a boy who cherishes the friendships he has with Cole and Jace more than anything else in the world. And he isn't willing to give it up for a girl--especially their little sister.

Two broken souls come together in Broken Kingdom.

The past fuses with the present.

The old becomes new.

The new becomes strong.

You'll want these two to have their happily ever after.

Even when you didn't think she deserved it.

You can see my full review on Goodreads

The entire Royal Hearts Academy series is available on Amazon and is Free in Kindle Unlimited. This series is best read in order as you will see overlapping characters and plot. Wicked Princess MUST be read before Broken Kingdom.

Start Jace and Dylan's story with CRUEL PRINCE

Sawyer and Cole find their truth in RUTHLESS KNIGHT

Begin the story of Bianca's journey in WICKED PRINCESS

And end this heartbreaking series with BROKEN KINGDOM

Review: I Am Not a Serial Killer

I Am Not a Serial Killer I Am Not a Serial Killer by Dan Wells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!

Wow! This was such a fun, creepy book.

John isn't your average kid. He may seem like it, but the kid has a mind on him. A dark, twisted mind with an obsession.

You really need to read it to experience it. I don't want to give anything away in a review!

Review: The Woman in the Window

The Woman in the Window The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I...was not impressed. Maybe it was me. Maybe it was the mostly predictable plot-line. I don't know.
But even though I didn't guess the "big" reveal, I wasn't mind-blown when everything came to light.

In fact, it was more of a "oh, yeah, I could see that" and then I moved on.

The positives:

If you've never read this genre, you may actually be surprised.
The writing is solid. The story was well told. The author had a vision and seems to have executed it.
The author kept the twist a secret, because even though I wasn't impressed, I did NOT know who the bad guy (or girl) really was.

Review: Unraveling Him

Unraveling Him Unraveling Him by Claire Kingsley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

description

Gah. Claire is right. It's most definitely the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one.

AND OMG EVAN FREAKING BAILEY is everything you want in your sexy, broody man.

He works on cars.
He's quiet.
He has a dog.
He's got his own home--and land.

And he is sexy as sin. Big hands, body to die for. Yep. Evan Bailey. Swoooon.

And Fiona. Oh, that girl is the sweetest thing this side of blackberry cobbler. I could just eat her up. Or hug her. Or be her bestie because that girl needs a bestie.

I love Tilikum. I love the Haven-Bailey feud. I love how the stories and lives and families all come together.
And Gram. I love that strong, uplifting woman.

Wolf found his happy.
