Review: You Don't Know Jack Schmidt

You Don't Know Jack Schmidt You Don't Know Jack Schmidt by Susan Renee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jack Schmidt.

What do we know about Jack Schmidt?

Almost nothing.

That's what.

We met him in Hole Punched.

If you were anything like me, you wanted more of Jack as soon as he came on the scene. You wanted to know what made Jacoby's BFF tick. You wanted to know how they became friends. You wanted to know more.

And in this first novella in the Schmidt Load series, you learn a bit about Jack Schmidt. Things you didn't realize you wanted to know. Things you did want to know. And a few things in between.

Like how socially awkward Jack is around women.

And how online dating is his last resort to meeting someone special.

And how he doesn't really believe in online dating, but when he sees that one special profile, he thinks he's found something.

Because how often do you see an online dating profile filled with geeky, obscure references?

Never.

And Jack is intrigued.

Follow Jack on his dating journey in the Schmidt Load series.

You're gonna laugh so hard you just might cry.

You're also gonna swoon!

Review: Hard For My Boss

Hard For My Boss Hard For My Boss by Daryl Banner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Daryl had done it again.

He's taken the M/M romance to a new, over the top level. If you thought Football Sundae was ridiculously cute, hilarious, and sexy, then you HAVE to meet Benjamin Gage and Trevor Woodard.

"I really like having a big, swollen cock in my mouth." I lean in just the same and reply, "So do I."
I mean, when you have a line like this, how do you not want to get to know this man? I know it sealed the deal for me.

And Trevor? Poor, bumbling, awkward Trevor? He's the sweetest, most endearing guy ever. And once Benjamin Gage sees him, he knows he has to have him. And Trevor doesn't stand a chance.

I loved every bit of this book. There's something to be said for hiding an office relationship. There's something to be said for being the boss who falls for the intern. There's something magical when it all comes together and LOVE prevails.

Because that's what this is really about. LOVE.

Hard for my Boss shows us that love will have you doing crazy things. Things that include hooking up in a bathroom stall, hooking up in an office, hooking up anywhere that isn't the confines of Ben's home.

Let's give this book the appropriate hashtags because I know there are haters out there. Haters who don't believe that #LoveIsLove. Which is stupid.

Because love is love. We all feel it. Some of us just feel it more deeply than others. Some of us fall for members of the same sex. Some of us fall for members of the opposite sex. Some of us just fall.
At the feet of our boss.
Much like Trevor did.

Review: UnPlanned

UnPlanned UnPlanned by M. Piper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

How in the HELL did I read this entire book without taking notes? What the actual fuck is wrong with me?

Oh, I know.

Piper happened. She wrote an amazing book and I just couldn't be bothered to stop and highlight anything.

Which is good and bad for you, reader of my reviews.

Because now I don't have any amazing quotes or lines to throw your way.

So, let's just say that you HAVE to meet Lincoln Ames West.

HAVE. TO.

He's fucking amazing and sweet and he's a single-dad, y'all. Yes, I y'all-ed that shit. Because sometimes single dad's need all the attention.

Lincoln is no exception. He needs the attention because he pulled his head out of his ass to be there for his child. He's been waiting for just the right lady to come along and become the mother his son never had.

He's been waiting for Wren.

He just didn't know it until she showed up.

And in true Piper fashion, she's going to fuck with your emotions. She's going to wreck you and put you back together.

I guess the good news is that no one dies. There's that.

Review: Deadly Seduction

Deadly Seduction Deadly Seduction by Roxy Sinclaire
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What do you get when you are supposed to spy on the girl next door?
What do you do when you find yourself attracted to her?
What do you do when her brother is a wanted man?

What. Do. You. Do.

Easy, you make small talk, you ask questions, you invite her over, you have crazy hot sex with her.

Oh, wait.

Are you supposed to do that?

Probably not.

Oh well.

This was a suspenseful romance. It was a good story and I'd love to go back and read book 1. I didn't realize I was jumping in to book 2 when I started, but I'm happy I did.

*Audio, audio, audio. I swear it's the only way I'm getting things finished these days. The narrations helped drive the story. I love it when the characters are so well represented. Excellent job!

Review: El Diablo

El Diablo El Diablo by M. Robinson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I think maybe it's just me.
I think I'm the minority who just can't wrap her head around these books.

I don't know why I can't, but they fall flat for me.

Every.
Single.
Time.

Maybe it's the crazy age difference.
Maybe it's the unlikely scenario that keeps her coming back for more.
Maybe it's because El Diablo isn't really a bad guy.
Maybe it's because the life he was born into was shit and that carried over into his personal life.
Maybe it's because I haven't read the Good Ol' Boys series.

I honestly have no idea.
But this is my second attempt at an M. Robinson book and it's the second time I've been less than thrilled at the end of it.

Maybe my expectations are too high?
Maybe I have been led to believe she is the Queen of Angst?

But honestly, I didn't feel angst.
I felt annoyed and angry and annoyed.

Annoyed because it just fell flat.

I will say the twist at the end, the big reveal, that was awesome. For some reason, she caught me off guard with that little (big) revelation. That was well played, M. Robinson. Well played, indeed.

Review: Whiskey Kisses

Whiskey Kisses Whiskey Kisses by Addison Moore
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Whiskey Kisses was a book that surprised me. It surprised me by being better than I anticipated. And I have no idea why I didn't think it would be good, but I did.

And I'll be the first to admit I was an idiot. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance.

I liked the older woman/younger man concept.
I liked the idea that she was completely closed off to relationships of any kind, yet he was able to break through those walls and barriers.
I like that despite the crap that happened in their past, they were able to move past that and find love.

And that's the important thing here. They found love when neither thought themselves worthy.

*I listened to the audio of this book and loved every second of it. The narrators did a great job.

Review: Dark Love: Part One

Dark Love: Part One Dark Love: Part One by J.B. Duvane
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I think I'm confused because this story just kind of ends.

And I'm guessing that's because it is part of a series, so I shouldn't be that surprised, but I feel like I'm missing something.

I don't completely understand the relationship between our alpha and his housemates. I don't completely understand what happened with him and his mother (although what I'm thinking happened is nothing I'd want to discuss, so let's leave it at 'I don't know').

I do know this is a dark romance. I do know that he manipulates her and keeps her against her will.

I do know that the relationship between the two is very complicated.

I know they both give when they shouldn't.

And I know I will have to grab book 2 if I want any answers.

*I listened to the audio of this book and the narrators did a fantastic job. Logan McAllister is very quickly becoming a favorite narrator and I can't wait to see what else he has to offer.
